Energy Management Department

The goal of Energy Management at University of Alabama is to efficiently manage and reduce the consumption of energy. Performance goals drive energy management activities and promote continuous improvement. One basic goal is to reduce energy consumption per square foot by 2 percent per year to 2010. Department functions include:

  • Promoting UA’s energy management program with faculty, staff and students.
  • Developing energy saving projects and strategies.
  • Monitoring building systems to ensure efficient operation.
  • Reviewing occupancy patterns and develop building schedules.
  • Acting as a liaison to the Utility companies.
  • Collect, analyze and report energy data.

 

Energy Use Facts:

Annual Electrical Cost FY 07 was $9,870,700.

Annual Natural Gas Cost FY 07 was $5,246,500.

  • Remember, when electrical devices are producing heat, it’s using electricity, turn it off and/or unplug it!
